Book Launch

Last week we had a special day at Kirkwall Library launching our book 'Communication in Kirkwall during World War 2.'  We created a short presentation to tell everyone about the project.
Now we are going to take the book on tour to different groups in the community.

Bag the Bruck

Last Thursday we went to Scapa to collect litter.  We went into small groups of 7 or 8 and then tidied up part of the beach.  We found lots of small bits of string and rope which birds could choke on.
It was a successful outing with a few bags of rubbish collected.

Bushcraft

We  learned how to light fires with a flint and steel and build shelters which were marked for sturdiness, shelter and looking cool!

Climbing Wall

Happy faces - the indoor climbing wall giving everyone a chance to warm up - the temperatures are dropping!

The Big Tree

The legendary Nethy Big Tree. We will leave your children to explain to you how they got on- safe to say that they all challenged themselves and most wanted to have another go at it.

Canoeing

Idyllic setting for canoeing.

Archery

This is the dance of someone who got a bull's eye in archery!

Mission Impossible and the Silver Maze

These activities are really well designed to promote team building. The children were amazing - as each activity progressed they became better at listening to each other, sharing ideas and taking their time. The instructors are incredibly patient and experts at bringing the focus back to the problems. The mud is optional - usually. I will try and get pictures of each of the children but it can be tricky to be in the right spot at the right time.
